Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield Utd: Three things we learned from Mohamed Salah
He can pass as well as finish
If you were asked to name the best all-round forwards in the Liverpool squad, you’d probably settle for the less prolific but vital Roberto Firmino. Could he be replaced by Salah, who showed off his finishing and his passing as the Reds beat United.
The ball for Mane, a ball that created the second goal, was inch-perfect and allowed the Senegal international to make the most of the small window of opportunity the away defence granted him to slot past Henderson after collecting the rebound.
It was the example of a man who is at the top of his game in all aspects. Salah gets stick for being selfish or for not wanting others to score, but on Thursday night he was none of those things as the King proved he is more than willing to provide assists for his mates.
On the night he made three key passes – only bettered by Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson – completed 29 at an accuracy of 76% and played the killer ball for Mane to score.
If Salah continues in this fashion, it won’t be long before perception starts to change about his behaviour and the part of his game in which he excels at.
