Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham: Three things we learned – Roberto Firmino is all class
Roberto Firmino is all class
That one-touch turn was a thing of beauty. How Bobby knew his space like the back of his hand was the mark of a special player, and his next touch was to bury the ball in the back of the net. It’s been a lean period for the Brazilian but that was brilliant and highlights why he is so highly rated.
Nobody moves like him through the middle, nobody drops as deep or pulls the string like Firmino. He’s a dream forward for Klopp and it looks like he’s found his shooting boots in recent games.
Bobby is guilty of missing chances, like the whole forward line, but he’s been good recently and this performance shows why he is preferred over Divock Origi for the big matches.
It’s doubtful that Firmino will be a man who can score 20 league goals a season, but when he’s supported by incisive inside forwards he doesn’t have to. If the star can grab 10-15 he’ll fully compliment a lethal attack that can hurt teams in more than one way.
He’s on eight now, and there is every chance he’ll be able to match of better the 12 he scored last season or the 15 from the one before.
