Defense

. Trent Alexander Arnold. 6. Alexander-Arnold had a fine day at the office today. Not a great day or even a fantastic day. But a fine one.
He got one shot off (not on target), had a key pass, made four tackles, a clearance, and blocked two shots. He was active and he was a good option for them both on the back end and going forward. On some days, that’s all you need.
.

He was just as good as anyone else on the back-end for Liverpool. He made three clearances, made one interception, and had a 90 percent passing efficiency. Taking an unnecessary yellow has him lower on the final grade. He was just too quick to get dragged into any action away from the play and had to be pulled away on a few occasions by his teammates.. . . Joe Gomez. 5

8. If not for a big hand from Paulo Gazzaniga in the first half, Van Dijk would have had his fourth goal on the season. Regardless, Liverpool’s top defender was as stoic and steady as you expect him to be. He had two tackles, two clearances, an interception, 94 percent pass efficiency, and that shot on goal.. . . Virgil Van Djik

. Andrew Robertson. 5. He was there. He wasn’t terrible, but he didn’t stand out much either. It’s not to say he did anything negative on the pitch, but he wasn’t a positive either. Again, he was just there. Offensively he has nothing but 0’s on the stat sheet, defensively is the same story. He has a 78 percent passing efficiency with one of his five crosses being accurate..
