Liverpool vs Man Utd: Mane vs Wan Bissaka and two other key battles
Andy Robertson vs Dan James
On the other side of the Wan Bisska coin is Robertson, who will be forced to watch what he’s doing with United ultra-quick James.
Liverpool were kept quieter at Old Trafford because Klopp’s full-backs weren’t allowed to roam forward with their usual fluency and attacking intent. James is a big part of that because of how good he is on the counter-attack, and Robertson won’t want to get caught too far forward.
With three goals and six assists, James is having a decent first year in the Premier League and is one of the Red Devils’ main outlets in transition. But he will also have a defensive job to do if the scales swing in favour of Robertson coming down our left.
With Mane cutting in and Robbo hitting the overlap, Wan Bisska and James will have their work cut out for them in order to minimalize the threat they face. Trent Alexander-Arnold will also be pinging balls across the field in order to stretch play.
There is a lot at stake with this battle – both offensively and defensively. If one can keep the other quiet, it will go a long way to deciding how the match ends.
