Liverpool have turned down two offers for their £25.5 million man but could be willing to let him leave in the summer transfer window.

The BBC wrote that Jurgen Klopp is looking to keep his squad together during the run in to the end of the season, but the German could sanction the sale of Xherdan Shaqiri at the end of the season.

Roma and Sevilla have offered to take the forward off Klopp’s hands for the rest of the campaign, but have been rejected.

Shaqiri has suffered from an injury hit campaign but has done well when the Swiss international has been called upon. There was that superb goal and overall performance in the 5-2 win over Everton – incidentally the last time Liverpool conceded in the Premier League – but has seen his opportunities limited since then.

If Michael Edwards moves the former Stoke City forward on in the summer, it will mark another remarkable turn of business for the sporting director. Liverpool picked him up for just £13 million as Stoke City were relegated and now stand to double their money in just two seasons.

Xherdan Shaqiri has played 40 games since his arrival, scoring seven times and creating five. He’s been an excellent back-up option, but the Swiss international will need to move if he wants to secure more regular first team football.

We’ve seen Divock Origi used on the right, while Harry Wilson could come back from his Bournemouth loan and play there. January arrival Takumi Minamino would be able to take his place in the squad, too, so there would be plenty of options for Klopp if Shaqiri did leave.

Liverpool are still in the Champions League and the FA Cup and will want to keep bodies around Melwood as they plan their Premier League run in as well. This could be a historic season for Klopp and the boys, and every squad member will have a contribution to make between now and the end of the season.
