Liverpool Player Ratings: Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold. 7. Another game, another assist for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The English full back whipped in another near post beauty and this time it was the captain that powered the header home to open the scoring. Wolves did a great job at pinning him back in the second half but his defensive game held up to the pressure.. .

Made a brilliant block right at the beginning of the second half to prevent Neto scoring on the counter attack. With Joel Matip back in contention Gomez will not be giving the Cameroonian any sight of the first team on current form.. . . Joe Gomez. 8

. Virgil van Dijk. 8. Imperious once again. Totally dominant in the second half and it took an inch perfect cross to beat him for the Wolves equalizer. The plan for Wolves was to give it Traore who reveled to run at Robertson. But when faced with van Dijk he crapped himself and scuffed his shots..

4. Alberto? Did very poorly for Wolves equalizing goal as he got faked into making a lunging tackle that opened an acre of space for Adama Traore to run into before crossing for Jimenez to score. And you don’t catch Traore once he’s free. Robbo immediately followed that up by hacking him down again to pick up a yellow card on the edge of the box.. . . Andrew Robertson
