Liverpool Player Ratings: Midfield

. . Gini Wijnaldum. 6. There aren’t many away games where you can say that Gini Wijnaldum makes a huge impact. This wasn’t one of them. Looked in need of a rest and I was a little surprised the Dutchman stayed on instead of the Ox. He was pushed into the forward left position as Klopp preferred Minamino’s energy centrally in the last 20 minutes.

9. The captain made it on to the score sheet for the second time this season with a power header that flew past Patricio and then got the assist for the winner – recognizing that Firmino was a better bet to score (at least tonight). He is playing out of his mind right now and I love to see it. Man-of-the-Match. (Again).. . . Jordan Henderson

. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. 7. Provided some quality with his passing in the first half as the creative midfielder in the central trio. Was wide open in the second half but Salah only had (greedy) eyes for goal and declined to pass. The next moment he was taken off for Fabinho. Did nothing wrong but the manager wanted to assert more physicality in the middle..
