Liverpool Player Ratings: Forwards

6. Had the best of Liverpool’s chances in the first half but couldn’t find the final shot to test the keeper. Cut inside on one when he should have just hit it and was later denied by some good defending with late blocks. Should have passed to Oxlade-Chamberlain midway through the second half but flashed his shot wide instead.. . . Mohameh Salah

The Reds couldn’t really get the Brazilian into it for most of the game and he spent more time near the center circle than he did the opposition box. The plan was clearly to hit Salah early and Firmino was the one who was getting bypassed. Finally got an opportunity to score after working some space for a shot but he struck it so the keeper could save with his legs. Should have scored. And then he did – smashing in the winner into the top corner minutes later. Fantastic quality in a huge moment.. . . Roberto Firmino. 7

6. Mane ended up being substituted midway through the first half with what looked like a hamstring injury. It seemed not too serious as he didn’t look in pain and was walking fine as it appeared to be more cautious than anything. Takumi Minamino took his place on the left wing.. . . Sadio Mané

Substitutions:

Takumi Minamino – 6: What a game to make your Premier League debut. The Japanese international did not get much opportunity to show his ability as Wolves initially chased and equalizer and then a winner in the second half.

Fabinho – 7: Made an immediate difference when he came on to provide more steel and protection to the Reds’ back line.
