Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 on Thursday night with Virgil van Dijk playing a huge part in the victory. Read five things we learned from the game here!

Jordan Henderson scored the first after a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner, of course it was from an Alexander-Arnold corner, but Wolves were wasteful in the opening 45 and should have hit the back of the net soon after the Henderson strike.

They have only scored one goal at home in the first 15 minutes all season and an awful Matt Doherty miss ensured that statistic would continue. The defender was left unmarked, with acres of room inside the box, but headed so far wide it looked like a defensive clearance.

Liverpool are an relentless team right now and this was the 10th time in a row they have gone ahead at the break.

At one point the Reds passed 12 hours without conceding a Premier League goal. Since Joe Gomez has returned alongside Virgil van Dijk, things have done from strength to strength and Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren must be feeling pretty bleak.

But then Raúl Jiménez changed all that as he finished off a lightening counter-attack.  After that goal, the life got punched out of Liverpool for a while as they struggled to match what Adama Traoré could bring to the table.

And after all those nerves and the swear words came Roberto Firmino, that brilliant, beautiful Brazilian, to somehow put the Reds in front with just six minutes to go.  All we had to do was protect the lead and advance with another three points, and so we did.
