Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson

It seems very unlikely that Jurgen Klopp will make any changes to the back line. Joel Matip started against Shrewsbury but given Joe Gomez’s current form, it will be hard to drop him and he should start alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defence.

Both will be eager to prevent Sebastien Haller and the other West Ham attackers from being much of a goal threat.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will be starting in their usual full-back positions. The former may not be able to surpass Kevin de Bruyne as this season’s leading assist provider in the Premier League but can easily better his tally of 12 assists in 2018/19.

The 21-year-old already has ten assists and will be eager to set up a goal or two on Wednesday. But he’s more important than those numbers. Alexander-Arnold’s cross field balls and his passing are vital to how the Reds play their football.

Robertson is the same, and he will be looking to recover from the tough time he was given by Traore against Wolves.
