Defense

7. It was also a vintage performance from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool wing-back delivered eight crosses, four of them being successful. He maintained an 87.4 passing success rating, made two key passes, five accurate long balls out of nine, put in a tackle, made a clearance, and one interception. He was a constant threat going forward for Liverpool and a constant thorn for West Ham to deal with.. . . Trent Alexander-Arnold

6. It was yet another solid performance from Joe Gomez. It’s why he’s a staple in the Liverpool and England backline. You know what you get from Gomez every time he gets on the pitch. One interception, one clearance, an 89 percent passer rating, and five for nine in long balls.. . . Joe Gomez

Virgil Van Dijk. 7. He’s been worth every penny Liverpool spent on the big Dutchman when they finally brought him in from Southampton. His ability to command the backline and keep everything nice and tidy has been revolutionary for Liverpool. The 2-0 win over West Ham was another example of that.. .

6. Robertson maintained an 88.9 passer rating even though he didn’t accurately deliver a single cross in the match. When West Ham pressed in the second half Robertson found himself doing more defending than attacking and he dealt with it relatively well making two tackles and a clearance.. . . Andrew Robertson

7. Naby Keita was brought on for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 77th minute. With about a quarter of an hour to work with, Keita made an interception, held a 100 percent passer rating, and had a shot on target.. . . Naby Keita
