Bobby Duncan risks sour reputation with latest move
Former Liverpool starlet Bobby Duncan at risk of developing a sour reputation following his latest move just six months after leaving Anfield.
The youngster left Merseyside in search of first team football but has been frustrated at Fiorentina, who paid £1.8 million for the forward, said the Guardian.
And now he could be offered a route back to England via a loan move to League One Sunderland, said the north-east’s local press.
But a third move in the space of a season risks casting Bobby Duncan in an extremely negative light and could sour his reputation with fans and executives across the football industry.
His move away from Liverpool was extremely acrimonious and was peppered with claim and counter-claim, the most concerning of which related to bullying from the club toward their youth team product.
In reality Duncan was never going to walk into the Fiorentina first-team, just like he was never going to get into the Reds senior squad without some serious hard work first. And that has been shown by lack of involvement and near-immanent loan to the third tier of English football.
Reputations can be made very quickly and they take a long time to shake. The formative years of any player’s career are difficult require careful guidance. He’s already forced through a move from Manchester City to Liverpool to Fiorentina. Now he’s about to leave for Wearside, and after that, who knows?
His time in Italy isn’t going to plan and this story will have further twists and turns before the end. You just hope that the next advice the player gets is solid and he can finally build foundations and become a fully fledged professional.
Until then all we can do it watch and wait and hope his reputation doesn’t sour even further and stick like glue.
