Defense

Trent Alexander-Arnold. 6.5. Was busy getting forward but the strong winds hampered his crossing game. Nathan Redmond caused Alexander-Arnold problems at times, but it wasn’t much the youngster couldn’t deal with.. .

6.5. Gomez had one poor spell in the game and allowed Shane Long to get an effort away, but came out a new man after the break and showed why Joel Matip isn’t going to get a sniff in going forward.. . . Joe Gomez

. Virgil Van Dijk. 7.5. Another excellent performance from van Dijk and nearly scored from a backheel. There’s not much to say about his defensive efforts because he does it so well week after week..

Could have got pinged for a back pass in the first half but got away with it. Robertson wasn’t super involved but he knows this role like the back of his hand and Robbo carried it out well.. . . Andrew Robertson. 6.75
