There is a shock summer reunification on the cards involving Liverpool and several other high profile clubs, reports well placed sources.

The Telegraph has reported that a senior Reds player could be in line for a reunion with his former boss when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

Adam Lallana and Brendon Rodgers could be the happy pair come the start of 2020/2021 as Chris Bascombe wrote that Rodgers is interested in bringing Lallana to Leicester City.

On the face of it, this makes sense. The 175-game Liverpool playmaker was signed by the current Foxes boss when he was in charge at Anfield and could be used to replace James Maddison on a short-term basis if the former leaves for new pastures.

However, there is stiff interest from other Premier League clubs in Adam Lallana. Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham all want to sign him for nowt – say the Telegraph. The latter we can pretty much discount. They are fighting relegation and football under David Moyes is not what Lallana deserves.

Leicester would suit him, as would Arsenal. Spurs not so much, although working under Jose Mourinho will have its own pull to certain players.

Formal discussions are yet to take places, says Bascombe, as the player doesn’t want anything to distract from the club’s domestic and European ambitions.

Adam Lallana has ambitions to become a regular stater again and that isn’t going to happen at Liverpool. Competition for places is too fierce for the ex-Southampton man to nail down a spot, while injuries have robbed him of game time in the last two campaigns.

He deserves to go somewhere that would offer him the chance to compete at the highest level on a weekly basis. Leicester would seem to be a good fit, and could even offer him Champions League football at the end of the season.
