There isn’t room for him at the moment. No matter where Wilson actually ends up playing. The team are stacked with starting quality players and there just isn’t space for him to breakthrough.

Wilson started out as a forward until Frank Lampard, then manager of Championship side Derby County turned him into a midfielder. Since then he’s been bouncing between both.

Either at forward or in the middle of the park, there just isn’t room for Wilson.

Down the middle, Fabinho doesn’t even have room to get in the starting lineup. The trio of Georginio Wijnaldum, club captain Jordan Henderson, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been running the show of late. And they’ve been incredible.

That leaves the £39 million Brazilian defensive-midfielder on the sidelines for most games. It’s hard to see Harry Wilson all of a sudden muscle his way between those four established middlemen.

Up top, Wilson would have to compete with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane. It’s laughable to suggest he could take any of their spots. In the starting lineup.

There could be an opening with Divock Origi‘s deal ending after the season. But Origi is a bit player on the Liverpool roster. He’s not an everyday starter.

So why would Wilson come back to play a bit part with Liverpool when he could get a starting role at another club in the Premier League?
