If there is one thing we know about Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, it’s that he’ll sacrifice himself for Timo Werner if Jurgen Klopp asks.

The Reds have been continually linked with a move for RB Leipzig man Werner. He’s been parading himself around after-match interviews asking Klopp and Michael Edwards to buy him, but it leaves Firmino in a little bit of a pickle.

But if there’s one thing we know about the Brazilian, it’s that he’ll do as he’s told with a smile on his face if he can be convinced that it’s for the good of the team.

And having Timo Werner on the pitch in red would be for the good of the team. There is no doubt that Liverpool are interested in the striker, who is the type of pure goalscorer that the team doesn’t really have.

For all his great skills, Firmino is not the cold-blooded ruthless killer of a hitman. He does many things well, but he does miss chances and he’s not always in the position to take them because his work means he has to be all over the field.

This might mean Bobby drops down into a no. 10 position – one he basically plays one – and Klopp changes formation from  4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 with Werner as the central striker and Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in behind.

It’s a pretty tasty thought, imagine the firepower of that four going forward!

Or Bobby and Werner would rotate amongst themselves, one starting and the other one coming on as a substitute depending on the situation.

For one of the hardest working frontmen in world football, asking him to perform an off-field role for the good of the team shouldn’t be too difficult either. He often sacrifices himself in terms of positioning in order to feed the machine of Mane and Salah, what’s one more little duty among friends?
