Liverpool somehow managed to lose 3-0 away to Watford and surrender their unbeaten record. But who put 50p in Gary Neville?

It’s interesting to see who crawled out of the woodwork following the first Premier League loss of the season, but the video Neville made was the worst of them all.

We had Arsenal posting celebratory tweets marking the moment the Reds’  invincible dream crumbled around them when this side are on course to be the best in top flight history and could win the treble – something the Invincibles never managed to do.

There are Manchester United and Manchester City fans celebrating like their own side have won something, and perhaps if they put as much emotional energy into supporting their own mob they would.

But you’ve just gotta keep coming back to the video of Gary Neville. I’m not really sure what it was meant to symbolise? Joy, perhaps. Joy that Liverpool are only 22 points ahead of second place and 38 in front of United.

Ah yes, that sweet sweet taste of joy when your biggest rival has a larger points gap on you than some teams accrue in a whole campaign.

Maybe someone woke him up from his slumber and now he thinks parity will be restored between Old Trafford and Anfield? Not likely. While commercial figures on Merseyside sore and performances on the pitch are the best they’ve ever been, the Red Devils remain a club in turmoil.

So who put 50p in Gary Neville?

Being driven by the fear of your opponent managing something you could never see for yourself must be exhausting. Being driven to making mocking videos and posting them on Twitter because Liverpool lost a game of football must be scraping the barrel.

Next. Three reasons why Liverpool can still win the Champions League. dark

I hope it was a good drop, at least, because they likelihood is that those bubbles will sour and turn to tears by the end of the campaign.
