Liverpool experienced a tricky February as they lost to Atletico Madrid and Watford. Here are the top three heroes from the month.

We all expected this to go a little bit different. The Reds were supposed to exit the winter break with fire, passion and a heap of goals.

Instead we got a few limp performances, a poor showing against West Ham and shithoused to death by Atletico.

But within that are a few bright points and good individual moments – even if we watched Naby Keita and Dejan Lovren bomb their chances of prolonged exposure to the Liverpool first team.

We have five games coming up in March – the FA Cup ties against Chelsea, the must-win second leg against Atletico and Premier League fixtures versus Bournemouth, Everton and Crystal Palace.

On paper, those are three league games Liverpool should be able to win fairly routinely. The Toffies will be smarting from the loss to our kids in the cup, while the Cherries and the Eagles are struggling to avoid relegation.

We said that about West Ham and Watford, and look where that got us. We need a few more heroes and less villains for the upcoming 31 days, but before we think about that let’s assess how February went and read about our first hero.
