Liverpool legend and Brisbane Roar manager Robbie Fowler has been named Manager of the Month for a second month in a row.
The Roar won two and drew one of their games in February with victories over Adelaide United, Western United and a stalemate at home to Perth Glory.
Robbie Fowler enjoyed similar success in January and went two months unbeaten before falling to Melbourne City on the first day of March. But those 2-1, 2-2, 1-0 and 1-0 results at 2020 kicked off secured God the accolade for the first time this year.
The former Liverpool striker is currently doing well in his first role in management and has taken the Roar from basement dwellers to challenging for third place in the A-League table. He’s also been linked with the recently vacated U23 position at Anfield.
But whether the ex-striker would drop down a level to take up a position in England remains to be seen. After a promising start to his managerial career, surely God would see taking up a youth role as a demotion.
His name guarantees that if he does well in Australia, there will be chances for him to work at the highest level in England. Whether that is with a Premier League club or not is besides the point – the Brisbane Roar should enable Robbie Fowler to get his foot in the door and start working his way to the top.
He’s not the only former Reds star making a name for himself in management as Steven Gerrard, who Fowler played with, is currently doing well with Rangers and has been tipped as a future Anfield boss.
With seven league games left to go before the play offs begin, the Roar just have to continue as they started 2020 to give Fowler a taste of glory in his new role as manager.
