Idiot Liverpool fans are sick of the sight of Roberto Firmino after he put in an average performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The Brazilian has been taking pelters on social media for not having a great game as the Reds chased a second-leg with against Madrid.

Georginio Wijnaldum scored with an excellent header just before half time, and Liverpool did everything in the second half apart from hitting the back of the net as the match finished regular time with a 1-1 aggregate draw.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane had a few half chances towards the 90 minute mark as Madrid were happy to sit back on the edge of the area and try to frustrate the Premier League leaders for as long as possible.

Roberto Firmino hasn’t been able to hit the back of the net in front of the Anfield crowd for a long time, and then he did it when it mattered the most: in extra time during a vital Champions League game.

His excellent header originally hit the post, but it rebounded straight to the former Hoffenheim player and Bobby knocked it in past a prone Jan Oblak.

Despite that, his work rate and link-up play are phenomenal. It’s a curious fact that as Liverpool have got better as a team, Firmino has scored less goals.

Next. James Milner and the impossible Liverpool task. dark

The goal left Anfield absolutely rocking and sparked the best stadium in the world into overdrive.  Firmino does come in for a lot of stick for his scoring record but he normally pops up when he’s needed the most.

Big nights mean big contributions are required from the big players and that’s what Bobby is. You don’t get the sort of trust invested in you that Jurgen Klopp has given him without being absolutely perfect for Liverpool and we should do better to try and remember that.
