Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has kept balling during the squad’s enforced break due to the coronovirus outbreak.

After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain entertained us all with his version of self-isolation, Gini has enlisted the help of his trusty personal photographer so he could share his activities with the world.

The Reds man posted a photo of himself on Instagram keeping himself busy by playing table tennis in what appeared to be his games room.

On the wall, behind Georginio Wijnaldum, hung two canvas pictures. One, from his time at Newcastle United, when the midfielder scored four goals in a mental game against Norwich, and the other from his Liverpool days.

Back when he played for the Toon, Gini was a more attack minded player and it was those performances that convinced the Reds to part with good money to sign the Dutchman.

He still displays little hints and guesses that he can get forward and score – such as the header against Atletico Madrid and the position he found himself in to grab the opener in the win over West Ham.

But now Jurgen Klopp has converted Wijnaldum into a more disciplined, tactical role he barely has the freedom to venture forward. It’s normally Jordan Henderson who is given the freer licence, except when Hendo is forced to sit deep in the absence of Fabinho.

Gini is a massive part of the side, but curiously he’s the only key cog who hasn’t been given a new contract yet. We’ve seen a whole host of players sign them, even James Milner got a two-year deal, but Wijnaldum is yet to put pen to paper.

Maybe Klopp is going to refresh the midfield ever so slightly in the summer, or maybe they are so relaxed about the player’s desire to spend more than five years at Anfield they can afford to take things slow.
