Three backup goalkeepers to chase for next season
Michel Vorm | Tottenham
The former Swansea and current Tottenham keeper is very much at the bottom of the Hotspur depth chart. He’s played a total of 13 games, starting 12, since his arrival from Swansea in 2014-15.
He’s not young at 36-years-old, but he’s a capable keeper with significant Premier League experience. And it’s not like Liverpool are looking to replace Alisson anyways. What they need is an established goalie to come in and do a job when they need him to. They don’t need someone to come in and challenge Alisson for matches.
Michel Vorm is a good option for that veteran presence between the sticks. He’s started 100 matches over nine seasons in the Premier League and he’s stopped 339 of 470 shots on target in that time for a decent 0.721 save percentage.
With Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga, there’s no space for Michel Vorm in Jose Mourinho’s side. And with Vorm’s contract coming to an end, Liverpool could, just like Adrian, bring him in for free.
Maybe he’s not the ideal candidate but he’s a good option to bring in to play a few games if Alisson needs a breather or, heaven forbid, he picks up an injury.
