Danijel Subasic | Monaco

The Danijel Subasic is the third rung keeper for French side Monaco. In 2019-20 he’s played a single match. Recent signing Benjamin Lecomte has been the clear number one with 28 matches played this season.

The Croatian keeper is likely going to want a move from Monaco at the start of 2020-21. Liverpool, as the backup to Alisson, would be a great landing spot for the veteran.

Looks, he’s not on the sideline with Monaco due to any performance issues. In nine seasons at Monaco Subasic holds an impressive 0.722 save percentage with 635 saves on 857 shots on target.

Internationally, he helped Croatia to a second-place finish at the 2018 Wold CUp with a .650 save percentage stopping 14 of 20 shots on target. So if Liverpool needs a big-game keeper, Subasic has the credentials.

Luckily, Subasic’s deal with Monaco is set to expire this season. So just like Adrian, as well as the other two named in this list, Liverpool could bring the Croatian veteran shot-stopper in on a free transfer.

Again, they don’t need a keeper to come in and challenge Alisson. They need someone to come in, play in some cup competitions and maybe step in for a short period if Alisson picks up an injury during the season. In those appearances, they need this back up to be competent and do a mistake-free job. Subasic could absolutely do that job.

Of the three names I’ve tossed-up, Subasic is perhaps my favorite of the three. He’s a great shot-stopper, he’s clearly looking for a new place to play, he won’t cost anything, and he can play in big games. He’s a perfect fit for what Liverpool are looking for in backup.
