Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the impact player of 2020, even with the season being suspended for the foreseeable future.

With seven goals across all competitions this season, the former Arsenal man is having a decent campaign.

He’s getting back into the groove after a horrendous knee injury. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has had to deal with his Liverpool career getting back on track in fits and starts.

There has been a cup game here, a Premier League game there, a Champions League 15 minutes.

But whatever has happened, the Ox has normally been able to change the game one way or the other. Against West Ham, he may not have scored, but when the England international replaced Naby Keita he changed the game to our benefit and Keita’s demise.

And let’s not forget the two goals in a row against the Hammers back in January and then his old club Southampton.

There were the two amazing strikes away to Genk, then one at home to the same side and finally an assist at home in the doomed Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.

Oxlade-Chamberlain also helped oversee an incredibly young side to Carabao Cup victory against Arsenal and scored in the encounter – another goal that helped to see Liverpool to an excellent win.

The player will probably want to move away from being an impact player to someone who is trusted to shape and mould games for the whole 90 minutes. But with the strength-in-depth Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal, it’ll always be difficult for someone who isn’t Jordan Henderson or Georginio Wijnaldum to nail down a place in midfield.

Next. Three backup goalkeepers to chase for next season. dark

2019/2020 is the season Liverpool finally win the Premier League and it’s a season the Ox has shaken off his horrendous injury and finally got some minutes under his belt.

Could 2020/2021 be the year he transitions to something more permanent?
