Liverpool midfielders Naby Keita and Curtis Jones are set for a huge 2020/2021 as Jurgen Klopp has big plans for the duo.

Despite arriving for big money, former RB Leipzig man Keita has flattered to deceive during his time at Anfield and faces a crucial third season with the club.

Jones is on an entirely different career curve and will be integrated with the first team and will be more involved in match day squads going forward.

This is because Adam Lallana is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and that will free up the 869+ that the playmaker has featured for this campaign.

All this was revealed by James Pearce on The Athletic’s question and answer session. Naby Keita has struggled for minutes over the past two seasons, which has robbed the Guinea international of any consistency.

Just as he seemed to be building something up during 2018/2019, injury struck and the dynamo was robbed of the chance to play against Barcelona.

And this season, several things have worked against him – not least the player’s inability to grasp chances when they’ve been handed to them.

Curtis Jones is on the other end of the spectrum. He’s just started breaking into the side and seems to possess the natural skill and confidence to make it at this level.

His performance and goal against Everton in the FA Cup was a clear indication of what he can bring to the side, and Jurgen Klopp’s reluctance to loan him out seems to show the esteem the manager holds the starlet in.

Fans have called for Liverpool to sign fresh blood in midfield, but if those two find their feet it won’t be necessary.  Keita is an exciting, creative, destructive player while with more minutes Jones could really flourish in the Premier League.

Seeing another Academy player starting regularly would be great for us, too, and he could join Neco Williams in the first team next season.
