Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott won’t be sent on loan next season and will continue his development at the club. This is why.

We’re forever speculating who the next big thing to emerge out of the Reds’ system might be. This season we’ve seen Neco Williams burst out of nowhere to be our next great hope, along with several others.

Two years ago Trent Alexander-Arnold broke through without a whisper going through the fans about a brand-new Scouse hero. No loan deal, no nothing.

Trent emerged out of the wreckage of teenage dreams as Liverpool saw Ben Woodburn sparkle, fade and then go through a bad loan spell with Sheffield United. His Oxford United loan started really well, but has since stalled due to injury.

Harry Wilson couldn’t stop banging the goals in for Derby and Hull but still couldn’t nail down a spot under Jurgen Klopp. Harry Kane suffered a similar fate.

Curtis Jones hasn’t, Neco Williams hasn’t, Ki-Jana Hoever hasn’t.

These are the players tipped to break into the first team. There’s a clear pattern coming through here: Klopp keeps those around who he has his highest hopes for.

Jones could have easily snagged a deal in January, but didn’t and now is well placed to get more minutes in the first team next season.

With Xherdan Shaqiri‘s impending departure and Wilson unlikely to be the man who gets the Mohamed Salah back-up role, Harvey Elliott is sure to climb the ladder.

Still on 16-years-old, the forward has shown flashes of incredible talent and maturity. He’s taken to senior football like a duck to water, and the chance of him going out on loan next season is now low.

We can all see how highly rated he is within the set-up. Klopp doesn’t let those kids leave on loan, and that’s why Elliott won’t.
