Liverpool legend Jamier Carragher has been forced to take the L on Virgil van Dijk’s Twitter Ask-Me-Anything.
Van Dijk took to social media to pass the time and invited his followers to ask them any question they wanted. Before too long, Carragher piped up with one.
He wanted to know which former Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk had based his game on within the Premier League era, clearly fishing for the reply to be ‘Jamie Carragher.’
Except, the big Dutchman threw in a curveball and a massive L as he named Finnish gladiator Sami Hyypia as his inspiration.
A football fight between Sami and Carra would be incredible. Both were part of the side that lifted the 2005 Champions League in the Miracle of Istanbul. Imagine putting van Dijk in that back four! It would have conquered the world.
Liverpool are still in isolation as they, along with the rest of the world, try to keep safe and sane in the face of COVID-19. Earlier in the day, the club Twitter account posted a snippet of the squad getting ready for their morning joga session, held online.

Carragher only retired at the end of 2013 season, a campaign in which he still played 38 games in all competitions, in a career that managed to 737 games for Liverpool. It’s an incredible record and one Hyypia nearly manages to get near as he clocked up 494.
If we can get van Dijk to anything near that level it’ll be fantastic for the club. He’s 28-years-old and has 118 appearances for the Reds, which means he could have another four years at the top of his game then another few around the squad.
He’ll probably never get to the amount of games of those two, but his performances will definitely put him in the same bracket of defensive legends.
