One dream target to sign from every Premier League club

One of the biggest debates we’ve been having over the next two seasons is which Man City player would get into the Liverpool side? Conventional wisdom states Kevin de Bruyne, and he’s definitely someone who could sprinkle some stardust in the current Reds midfield.

Expect our three in the engine room are more functional than exciting but that’s the way Klopp has designed it. I’m not saying I wouldn’t take de Bruyne, because I definitely would. I’m just saying there’s one player I would want more.

Just imagine the scenes of having Virgil van Dijk playing in defence alongside Aymeric Laporte. It would be the best back two in the Premier League and it would certainly propel the side towards future glory.

Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez are good – and Gomez is going to get better – but Laporte is a player who would instantly improve the side. Gomez could act as full-back cover for Robertson or Alexander-Arnold as well, which would give him for prospect of playing during the course of the campaign.

We’ll need to see if Laporte is able to recover from that horrible injury he suffered at the start of the season. But on his day, the Spaniard is the second best defender in the Premier League and I’d love to see him in this squad.
