Passing the ball straight to Watford for the killer blow

Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t a player we’d need to criticise very often but when he passed the ball straight to Ismaila Sarr it summed up a really bad day at the office for Liverpool.

Sarr then gave it to Troy Deeney, who finished with aplomb to hand the Hornets a three goal lead. It was a result that would sink Klopp.

Luckily, there is no way that Alexander-Arnold will be punished in any lasting way for that mistake. He’s the best full-back in the world and he’s going to write his name in the Anfield history book.

But the thing with Trent is that we often forgot how young he is, and at this stage of his development it’s only natural that there are going to be teething problems.

This mistake is nowhere near the level of the Fabinho decision or Adrian’s error. Liverpool were already 2-0 down to a Watford side who looked like they’d hacked into the mechanism that kept the Reds unbeaten up until that point.

Adrian gave Atletico the win, Fabinho missed a large chunk of the season and then couldn’t perform to the required levels when he came back. Alexander-Arnold had a bit of a brain fade and gifted a third, but not decisive goal, to Watford.
