He’s a world class player

Sterling might have been down on his usual levels, but there’s no getting around the fact that he’s world class. Guardiola is our biggest rival but he doesn’t suffer fools gladly and has improved the England international.

He’s more clinical, has a better tactical appreciation and has can make better decisions on when to pass and when to go for goal himself.

Last season has he best ever and Sterling scored 25 goals in all competitions as well as 17 in the Premier League. Sterling may have had his own problems this season but he’s still managed to hit the back of the net 11 times in 24 top flight games, although he’s only put on two assists.

With just 18 goals in three seasons, something finally clicked in his mind and Sterling’s rate of improvement has finally matched the potential that we all saw when he burst onto the scene with Liverpool.

Guardiola has said he has an ‘incredible mentality to get better’, wrote the Mirror, and that will also sit well with Klopp – who demands that sort of behaviour from all of his players.

At 25-years-old, there’s plenty of room for the star to mature and grow into an even better footballer than he already is. And crucially, he’s younger than both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – who are both 27.
