Time on his side

Sterling seems to have been around for ages and so it’s a bit mad to think that he’s only 25, and currently just about dipping his toes into those fabled ‘peak years’.

He’s already played 52 times for England and has 381 career appearances across all competitions. This is a vastly experienced player who’s benefited from playing under the second best manager in the world in Guardiola.

Just imagine what would happen when Klopp gets Sterling under his wing. The star could mature alongside Mane, Roberto Firmino and Salah to create one of the most feared forward lines every seen in Premier League history.

And by the time Salah and Mane started to get themselves over the hill, Sterling would still be there to lead the next generation of Liverpool forwards to greatness before passing the baton.

Next. One dream target to sign from every Premier League club. dark

Plus, for the player himself, there is a unique chance at redemption that many who leave under a cloud of controversy don’t get. If Raheem Sterling had every thought about the day when he made the decision to antagonise the Liverpool fanbase and leave for City, this is the chance to make it all right with Merseyside.

It could be another beautiful story, and that’s a pretty compelling reason to make this deal work.
