Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has been linked with a £30 million move away from the club, but to who?
Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb has reported that Liverpool might lose the Dutch international this summer, especially as he’s yet to agree terms on a new contact and has just one-year left on his current deal.
They have written that Inter Milan could be in for Georginio Wijnaldum, who would cost €30 million and might be seen as an alternative to pricier options like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
However, Tuttomercatoweb do mention that Liverpool have offered Gini an extension until 2024 – something that definitely makes sense given the importance Jurgen Klopp places on Wijnaldum.
It would also help protect his value, however this isn’t going to be a driving force behind any decision of a new contract as we’ve seen Michael Edwards be extremely relaxed towards first team players leaving on a free.
Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge departed for nowt last summer, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne could do the same when their deals run out at the end of June and Wijnaldum could be in the same position as those four by the time 2021 comes around.
Something to put a smile on your face 😁

Any fee when the transfer window actually opens would be a little over £26 million – according to today’s exchange rates provided by Transferwise. That would be the only odd thing about any transfer taking Wijnaldum away from Liverpool – the low price.
Edwards normally negotiates maximum value for any player leaving Anfield, but with just one more year left on the Dutchman’s deal maybe this would represent the best price they can get for someone approaching 30.
And when you think about it, making your money back on someone who has spent five productive years at Anfield and played 177 times for the club isn’t that bad. Especially when the star has helped Liverpool to lift the Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup and Premier League (eventually).
