Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri gave a big interview to the official club website this week. This is what we learned from it.

In a wide ranging chat, the Swiss international spoke to Liverpool media on a wide range of subjects. Ranging from Original Ronaldo to the famous victory over Barcelona to the upbringing that shaped the man he is today, Xherdan Shaqiri covered all sorts of themes.

Whether talking about the Powercube’s self-belief, his multilingualism or the upbringing that led him towards embarking on a life as a professional sportsman, Shaq is an interesting person to talk about.

There a lot to like about the Switzerland international, who was born in war-torn Kosovo and left when he was four-years-old.

With stints at Basel, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, Xherdan Shaqiri has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world. And now he’s got time at Liverpool under his belt, sandwiched between a curious time with Stoke City.

City aren’t the most glamorous side but Shaq did well for them and moved for peanuts after Jurgen Klopp activated the relegation release clause in his contract. It was a deal many criticised at the time, but it’s generally worked out for the best and the Reds stand to make a good profit if he moves on whenever the transfer window reopens.

One good thing that may come out of this coronavirus break is a return to full fitness for Shaqiri. He’s been plagued this season but could now have an impact towards the final part of 2019/2020 and leave us with reminders of the player he is and the skills he clearly has.

So let’s get through the interview and look at what we’ve learned from it.
