Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp should consider a glorious reunion with former Borussia Dortmund starlet Mario Gotze.

The German star has confirmed that he’ll leave the Bundesliga outfit at the end of his current contract, wrote the Metro, and seems real keen to re-join Klopp at Liverpool.

This will bring an end to Mario Gotze‘s second stint with Dortmund despite the fact that he’s only 27-years-old. After winning the Golden Boy award in 2011, the attacking midfielder has failed to hit the heights expected of him – especially after moving to Bayern Munich for £33.30 million in 2013.

He played 114 times for the Bavarian giants, scoring 36 goals and creating 24 assists but fell out of favour and returned to Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

It hasn’t really gone well for the former starlet and he’s played just 501 minutes in the Bundesliga this season. But could he come to Liverpool and play for Jurgen Klopp again?

They talk all the time, said the publication, and he’s the coach that got the best out of the starlet and turned him into the man who won a World Cup final and interested Munich in bringing him to the club.

With 63 caps for Germany, he’s experienced on the international stage and has the talent to make a difference to Liverpool – but Klopp would need to harness that and get the forward back to his best.

Having come to prominence in the hard pressing, heavy metal footballing side of those early Dortmund teams means he would be used, broadly speaking, to the way the gaffer likes to play and thus would need a shorter settling in period than most new signings.

Coming in on a free, even with agents fees and a competitive salary, would make this an attractive deal to try and get over the line and it’s definitely one that Micheal Edwards and the club should look at.
