There has been no contact between Liverpool and their top transfer target as the club look set to play the waiting game with Timo Werner.
Goal has reported that Liverpool are prepared to kill time in their pursuit of Bundesliga star Timo Werner, who is interesting Bayern Munich as well.
After scoring 27 goals in 36 games, the RB Leipzig forward has cemented his reputation as one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga – if not Europe – and has all sorts of sides looking to add him to their roster when the transfer window opens.
Liverpool have been extensively linked with the hitman, who encouraged us all when he basically asked Leipzig to get that move to Anfield sorted.
However, Oliver Mintzlaff has poured cold water all over that. The RB Leipzig CEO has claimed there has been ‘no contact’ from the Reds or Bayern Munich.
He is under contract for another two years but Mintzlaff is bound to be tested. Although Leipzig are challenging for the Bundesliga this season and will surely be involved in some form of European competition in the future, Werner is bound to see his future away from the side.
Liverpool are building an incredible attractive proposition for prospective targets. With Jurgen Klopp at the side, Anfield is blessed to have one of the game’s finest managers in the dugout while the squad is primed to continue its success for some time to come.
By trying to add young stars like Timo Werner or Kai Havertz to the squad, Klopp is looking towards the future while also securing the present.
Liverpool are also in a better place to bring the striker to the side after Bayern messed around with him last summer. One thing he can be sure of is that Klopp won’t treat the former Stuttgart man like that.
But by failing to make contact, they are playing the waiting game. Hopefully it’s some patience that will play off.
