Liverpool have been linked with interest in Thiago Almada, a forward who has been labelled the new Luis Suarez and is attracting European attention.

A story in Liverpool.com highlighted how the 18-year-old would be a good addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad and compared him to the former Kop favourite – who is now turning out for Barcelona.

Thiago Almada turns out for Vélez Sarsfield, where he plays in a variety of positions across the forward line but primarily as an attacking midfielder. However the starlet has already played on the left, right and as a centre-forward turning his brief career with his hometown club.

In that time, the Argentina U20 international has scored nine goals and assisted four in 46 appearances. His performances have lead to Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City scouting Sarsfield’s next big thing.

His style is reminiscent of Luis Suarez in that he’s a determined forward who doesn’t give up the chase easily, while he is capable of pulling something out of nowhere. Almada is also strong for his size and isn’t easily dispossessed when he does have the ball – said the report.

Alamada can also pass the ball well, receive it with his back to goal, and spray balls across a mixture of lengths. He’s more rounded than just an out-and-out scorer – much like Luis Suarez was when he first came to Liverpool – but he definitely has the potential to develop into that.

There are some differences between the two though. Suarez only played 27 times for Nacional in Uruguay before Groningen picked him up in the Eredivisie before a move to Ajax and then Liverpool.

Now, the top sides have their scouts out in South America and snap up youngsters before the smaller European teams can have their 15 seconds of fame. Liverpool are part of that chasing pack, just like they should be.
