Rhian Brewster backed to join Rangers
Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster has been backed to join Anfield legend Steven Gerrard at loan at Rangers next season.
The starlet is currently spending time with Swansea City, where he has scored four goals in 11 games, as Liverpool have sent the forward to get his first taste of first team action.
Rhian Brewster’s education could continue with Rangers, wrote the Echo, as Kop great Steven Gerrard has been urged to take him to Ibrox.
Alfredo Morales is a wanted man and will probably leave the Scottish Premier League whenever the summer transfer window reopens, while they can’t rely on ageing Jermain Defoe for much longer. If those two depart, 46 goals will go with them.
Every team on the planet would struggle if they lost that much at the start of a new campaign.
Rhian Brewster first burst onto the scene during the England U17 World Cup triumph in India but has been forced to wait for his first team debut. Injury wiped out 2018/2019 for the starlet, who was convinced to sign for Liverpool on the basis of guaranteed minutes in the senior side.
Would the SPL be the best place for a young player to reach the next level of the game? Not many manage to migrate south of the border and break into a side challenging for the title.
Even Virgil van Dijk had to serve his time with Southampton before Liverpool made a move for him, but working under Steven Gerrard could be good for Brewster. Breaking into our front three is tough for the best, never mind a lad in the infancy of his professional career.
If Timo Werner or Kai Havertz joins Jurgen Klopp in the summer, it’ll be even more difficult for the lad to gain experience. His next loan move might come about out of necessity – and Gerrard could be the man to help him up the ladder.
