Steven Gerrard

It was a disappointing end to his long and illustrious time in Merseyside for Gerrard. He was the only bright spot for the Reds that day and capped off his career with a goal.

In the summer, he moved to the United States where he spent the rest of his playing career with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He would lead the Galaxy to two playoff appearances before officially retiring in November of 2016.

But, Gerrard couldn’t stay away from the game of football. Just two months later, he returned to Liverpool becoming a youth coach and eventually taking over as the under-18s manager. Gerrard impressed in this role enough to get a first-team job at Rangers where he remains today. The Scouser has been a major factor in the revival of the Glasgow side as they look to return to the top of Scotland.

Adam Lallana

Lallana is one of two players that still remain with the Reds today. But unlike Henderson, he doesn’t feature regularly anymore.

However, that wasn’t always the case. When Klopp arrived, Lallana’s work ethic and talent made him a favorite with the manager. The Englishman was on the best form of his career with the German as Liverpool started to rediscover success. At that time, he was one of the first names on the team sheet and was arguably the most effective player for the Reds. Lallana’s form even won himself the honor of England’s Player of the Year in 2016.

Unfortunately, a recurring hamstring issue ended Lallana’s success. The injuries clearly took a toll on his play as was never the same player again. Now, the midfielder is nowhere near the starting lineup and is frequently on the bench.

Philippe Coutinho

Although it was a dreadful game for the Brazilian, he ended that season Liverpool’s Player of the Season and earned a spot in the PFA Team of the Year. His status at the club would only grow after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

Coutinho would once again sweep the Player of the Year awards for Liverpool in the following season. He was widely regarded as one of the top performers in the Premier League as the Reds started on their path back to success. Even though new pieces were continually added, the Brazilian always remained a top player at the club.

But as Coutinho’s name grew, so did transfer speculations. His saga ended with him becoming the second most expensive transfer at that time, signing for Barcelona. In Catalan, he wasn’t as widely praised as he was at Liverpool and never really stood out.

In the summer of 2019, he was sent on loan to Bayern Munich where he has regained some of his form. Now, the future looks uncertain for the Brazilian, but he is regarded as a top player in Europe.
