Liverpool have been linked with a transfer move for Chelsea forward Willian, but he wouldn’t be a good fit. Here are three reasons why they should avoid him.
The Brazilian’s contract is due to expire at the end of June and Liverpool are considering offering the forward a deal. Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have gathered a bit of a reputation for making clever moves, but this wouldn’t be one of those.
talkSPORT have reported that the Reds are considering a shock move for the 31-year-old, who has scored 33 top flight goals.
It’s easy to see the attractiveness of such a player, despite his age (Willian will be 32 when the next season starts), this is someone who can still have an impact at the highest level and comes with over 200 Premier League games under his belt.
Willian can also fill one of those front three slots and do a job across the line. So there is some initial promise to be found when considering if Liverpool should make a move.
He would be a fine back-up option to Mohamed Salah and would allow Xherdan Shaqiri to move on this summer, although there would be question marks raised over the first team involvement of Harvey Elliott next season.
But they should not, and the following three reasons will explain why not in greater detail.
