Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said the lads are running around like headless chickens as a return to football was discussed.

It’s a difficult question for bosses from across the Premier League to answer as nobody really knows when things will restart, yet. But Liverpool have been trying to keep the players in a state of near-readiness for when the big day comes.

And that means giving them drills to do in the garden and trying to keep them in some sort of level of fitness.

We’ve all seen the Zoom videos posted on social media, but that can only go so far towards making sure the squad are physically ready when Liverpool are allowed to play again.

You have a feeling some players will jump straight back into it without missing a beat. Mohamed Salah has been training through all hours of the day to maintain that rig, while people like Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk are so driven you couldn’t see them allowing their standards to drop much.

But one thing they all share in common is their desire to get back out there. And that, said Jurgen Klopp, has led to some interesting sights when the players have been told to get outside.

"“When we give the boys a challenge to do in their gardens you can see in them they play really like five and six-year-old boys,” Goal reported that he said.“And that is what we will try to transfer onto the pitch then as well.”"

Klopp has got a brilliant way with words and how he describes these grown men when they are allowed outside with a ball at their feet is so evocative.

You can just imagine them pelting around with no real sense or purpose other than to feel the wind on their cheeks and the ball on their foot.

It also conjures up some lovely imagery of the manager having an almost father figure role in the dressing room, and it certainly seems like he is held in extremely high regard by the players.

We can also see that the relationship goes both ways.
