Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been slammed by former Arsenal and Manchester City star Emmanuel Adebayor.

Liverpool are extremely lucky to have found inside forwards like Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, two of the best in the world right now.

Excellent scouting and an opposition slow to react enabled Michael Edwards to do cheap deals to bring both Africans to Anfield.

Well, some people didn’t think they were cheap at the time, but those doubters have been proven wrong.

Salah hit the ground running with his incredible debut season, and while Mane took a little time to bed in he’s established himself as one of the world’s best thanks to his remarkable form during the last two campaigns.

22 goals in 36 appearances last season earned Mane the joint Golden Boot with Salah. 14 this season has the Senegal international in the hunt, although he is two behind Salah.

The Egyptian has been in red-hot form since he arrived at Liverpool and has 91 goals in 144 appearances with 37 assists – he’s a far cry from the lad who joined Chelsea from Basel and struggled to adapt to the Premier League.

This incredible form, from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, is part of Emmanuel Adebayor’s anger and is the reason why the former Gunner has slammed the pair.

According to KickOff, Adebayor isn’t pleased at how African Footballer of the Year is decided.

His main argument is that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is awarding their highest honour to someone who isn’t based in the country. Adebayor wants the award to go to the best player in Africa, not the best African player.

Seems like sour grapes, no?

"“CAF stands for Confederation Of African Football. How Salah and Sadio win it is way out of my worst imagination. That award belongs to African (based) players,” ranted the former striker."

Adebayor won the award in 2008. He’s likely to continue being outraged by African stars winning recognition from the region’s governing body as the Liverpool pair show no signs of slowing down.
