Liverpool are looking to build the strength of their squad through the summer transfer window as Lyon list their stars. Could Houseem Aouar be on the move?

Olympique Lyon finished seventh in Ligue 1 and outside of a European spot after the prime minister of France canceled live sporting sports until September. This has given Liverpool a way in.

As a result of finishing seventh and not competing in European football as well as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Lyon might have to sell some of their stars.

One star that Liverpool has been keeping an eye on in the past is Houseem Aouar. He is primarily a number 8 but can play forward as evident by the magical curler he scored against RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stage.

He was found when the Reds were doing scouting on past transfer target Nabil Fekir.

The 21-year-old has made over 130 appearances with over 40 goals across all competitions for the French giants over the past four years.

The Express believes the side have not progressed any further on the deal and expect a quiet summer from the Reds. However, Aouar could slide nicely into the Liverpool team providing not only a box-to-box midfield option but also the potential for a creative one as well.

Aouar also fits the bill as another young option that Jurgen Klopp can use not only to continue to build the future of Liverpool around but also to compete for a spot in the starting XI daily.

Aouar is rated at approximately £44 million, and considering the age and the talent this price tag is reasonable. With the continued development of talent at Liverpool with Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliot, and Sepp van den Berg, the future could look bright for Liverpool.

Liverpool should consider adding Aouar to their squad considering Adam Lallana could be leaving this summer and Georgino Wijnaldum could be leaving the following summer with their contracts expiring.
