By ruling out the null and void option for the 2019/2020 Premier League, the FA have finally done the right thing by Liverpool.

All the talk had been around the potential outcome of the top flight, with some calling for it to be called null and void – thus denying Liverpool the title.

It’s taken some time but the Football Association has made the right decision and told the Premier League that they will not sanction a null and void decision.

That’s given Liverpool fans all around the world a giant sense of relief as Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t be denied the first league title in 30 years.

It must come as a massive weight off the players’ shoulders as well, who know that they won’t be robbed off one of the crowning achievements of their careers.

With that decision taken, we can now focus on getting football back on or completing the table. Either way, Liverpool will be crowned champions at the end of the season.

As they are 25 points clear, there is no danger that a points per game ruling will see any side overtake them.

While getting back to action should allow them to keep that lead intact. There are some tough games left in the fixture list, with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to play but that’s supplemented with games against Everton, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.

There’s basically no chance that Klopp will let the boys blow a lead that side.

But the decision will come at a cost for those fighting at the bottom end of the table.

As well as null and void coming off the table, there will also be relegation from the Premier League. This means sides like West Ham, who had campaigned to see 2019/2020 scrapped, will have to pick up their performance levels.
