Liverpool have been linked with PSG starlet Kylian Mbappe for some time now, and this is what happened when the club signed him.

Using the data editor on Football Manager, I went in and moved Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool and sat back to see what Jurgen Klopp would make of him.

That gives the squad a fair amount of firepower up front with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah but Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri.

There’ll be no more complaints about a lack of strength in depth.

His stats at the start of the season were unreal. 18 for dribbling, 17 for finishing, 16 for first touch and 17 for technique complimented 20 pace, 20 acceleration and 16 agility.

His 18 composure, 16 decisions, 18 flair and 18 for off the ball mean the forward is a man who has the brain to go with his incredible technical assets.

In real life 2019/2020, Klopp prioritised the Champions League and the Premier League over everything else but in the virtual world he won the Carabao Cup in which Mbappe started on the right and scored.

He also managed to triumph for a second time in a row in Europe and give Mbappe what he couldn’t give PSG, which must be sweet for everyone involved in the Frenchman’s career and a bitter pill to swallow for the Parisians.

Manchester City won the Premier League, with Liverpool in second, but they were beaten by the mighty Reds as Naby Keita scored the only goal in the Champions League final and delivered a seventh title.

But Mbappe made sure his name would go down in Premier League history by smashing in 24 goals and finishing with the highest average rating of 7.78, all while laying on an additional 12 goals for his team.

This, truly, is a deal that has had the desired effect.

Mohamed Salah had a slightly reduced role in the same because of the Frenchman’s arrival as he made 30 starts in all competitions. Mbappe made 60, with one substitute appearance, scoring 33 goals and creating 16 others.

He didn’t really improve much over the course of the campaign, but then again there’s not much to improve on. Mbappe did see a slight increase on his agility, and he looks very placed to lead Liverpool to glory in the future.

There have been absolutely no surprises no here. The forward arrived with a big reputation and instantly enhanced that by leading the scoring charts, the average charts and nearly claiming the most assists.
