Liverpool have a historic Merseyside chance.

And it’s all down to how things have fallen with Project Restart and the Premier League fixture list.

Because Liverpool could lift the title away to Everton on June 20th. Manchester City play Arsenal on the 17th, and if City don’t get a win the door will be left wide open to break Blue hearts.

After this massive wait for glory, it could now come at the expense of the Toffies. Things couldn’t have worked out better, to be honest.

Everton have already been put in their place thanks to a glorious 5-2 win in December, as well as that 1-0 FA Cup victory in which Jurgen Klopp’s boys beat Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

It’ll be really interesting to see if Klopp’s side can play at their normal, intense, best. The side he puts out will make for good reading – will the manager stick to a tried and tested method or will Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita get another chance to impress?

The build up to this fixture has been months in the waiting. Liverpool are just two wins away from their first top flight title in 30 years, and the absolute superiority over the rest of the division deserves to be rewarded.

No matter what happens with these behind-closed-doors fixtures, nobody can take away from the success Klopp has had this campaign. A 25 point lead doesn’t manifest itself through luck and dodgy decisions, especially not when Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are chasing you.

Instead, Liverpool have been galvanised by past success as well as past failure and emerged from the tears of 2018/2019 with a fresh determination. That has resulted in this unshakable lead, which could be confirmed in the most glorious way.

June 20 could now be that famous date, and we’ll watch half of Liverpool dance and the other half cry. It will be glorious.
