Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Last season, there’s no way Dominic Calvert-Lewin would have been considered one of Everton’s main weapons. The improvement the forward has made since Duncan Ferguson took over from Marco Silva, and the further strides with Ancelotti as boss, have been remarkable.

Calvert-Lewin was pushing for an England place in the Euro 2020 squad and will be one of their main weapons when Sunday comes.

With five goals in his last seven appearances, the forward has sharpened up his finishing and combines that with a physical style. While he’s unlikely to ruffle Virgil van Dijk’s feathers too much, the 23-year-old should be treated with respect because he can hurt sides.

Joe Gomez is likely to line up alongside van Dijk, and that’ll give Klopp pace and strength from his central defenders.

Ancelotti likes to pair Calvert-Lewin with Brazilian Richarlison in attack, which give Everton a different dynamic. There aren’t many teams who go with two up front, and van Dijk and Gomez will need to be at their best to make sure the duo don’t get the best of them.

This break has robbed the English youngster of his momentum. Will he be able to return to those old levels straight away?
