Liverpool vs Everton: Five key players to watch – time to crush the Toffies
Mohamed Salah
The mighty Mohamed Salah might not even be available on Sunday, but he’s going in this article because he’s so important to the way the team operates.
When you have someone who’s either won or shared the Golden Boot in his two full Premier League seasons on Merseyside, they can’t be classed as anything other than vital to the cause.
Salah will be facing up to Everton’s key player, Lucas Digne. Digne has been excellent for the Toffies and is often seen as an attacking full-back, due to their wide forward’s willingness to tuck in narrow.
But with the Egyptian King running down his left and attacking the channels between Digne and the left-sided central defender, will he be able to give as much attention to getting forward as he usually would?
With Xherdan Shaqiri playing such little football this season, Salah starting the game is more important than ever. It would be an enormous gamble to throw Shaqiri or Harvey Elliott into the side, while Takumi Minamino isn’t really someone who wants to operate from the right.
So for his pace, his dribbling, his finishing and the reputation that’ll scare defenders before they even set foot on the pitch, Salah has to be a starter.
