Liverpool 0-0 Everton: 3 things we learned – Takumi Minamino doesn’t work
James Milner isn’t a robot
This might sound like a pretty controversial thing to say, but James Milner isn’t a robot.
The freak of nature looks as fit as he’s ever done but that couldn’t stop him breaking down just before half time against Everton.
Milner did exactly the same thing during the FA Cup win over the Toffies and now we have to ask ourselves ‘why this opposition and this player?’
His injury caused Klopp to have a serious rethink of the defence, as Gomez was sent on to play left-back – which means Dejan Lovren had to come on when Matip limped off with a big toe injury.

This could be a real blow to Liverpool. With Robertson’s injury status uncertain, Klopp would have wanted all the senior cover he could get for the left-back. Milner filled that role perfectly, and would have been an important player moving forward.
But now he could be facing some time away from the pitch. For someone who is always thought of as a physical specimen, Milner has started to pick up Everton related injuries and that’s not good for us.
Hopefully he recovers quickly and we can get his services back as quickly as possible.
