Liverpool could only draw with Eveton. Here are our player ratings.

Jurgen Klopp’s team were well off the pace and couldn’t summon any good chances to score in a toothless display.

The manager made some surprise choices as Takumi Minamino and James Milner started for Liverpool, although neither would make the start of the second half.

Milner limped off injured and Minamino was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the half-time break.

Sadio Mane moved from right to left as Oxlade-Chamberlain came on in Mohamed Salah’s normal position, and did offer more going forward – although the little that he offered wasn’t nearly enough.

Everton had two good chances to score, both of which Alisson managed to keep out, which is two more than Liverpool could manage.

Klopp team never looked like scoring and were well off their intense, swarming best. That’s to be expected for the first game of the restart, but the limp manner in which they gave up the chance to move within one win of the Premier League title is troubling.

Naby Keita looked the player we thought we were getting when he signed from RB Leipzig, but Klopp made the curious decision of replacing him with the anonymous Gini Wijnaldum. Was Klopp trying to wrap Keita in cotton wool? Possibly.

Keeper

. . Alisson. 7.

Didn’t have to do much and then he had to do it all at once. Alisson was quiet between the stick and then made an excellent save when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s back-heel nearly caught everyone out and then batted away a Richarlison shot.

Did his job when called upon.
