Liverpool fans are celebrating like there’s no tomorrow.
Thousands of Liverpool fans have mobbed Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s men were declared Premier League winners.
Chelsea beat Manchester City to make it mathematically impossible for Klopp’s men to lose their grip at the top of the table.
As the final whistle blew, pandemonium descended to the streets of Liverpool as thousands ran to Anfield to celebrate together.
They defied lockdown but their actions were driven by a pure, primal desire to be around people in a moment of pure celebration. There were flares, loudspeakers, signing.
Of course there was. For many teams, this is a once in a lifetime achievement, but Liverpool fans have been blessed by Jurgen Klopp and the empire he’s building.
Last season we had the Champions League, then came the Super Cup and the Club World Cup and now the Premier League is in our hands and it is time to celebrate.
Those who decided not to be at Anfield tonight won’t miss out. There will surely be plans put in place for a victory parade through the streets, once COVID-19 has calmed down.
We’ve waited 30 years for a top flight victory, we can wait a little longer for the celebration. Waiting is in Liverpool’s blood, and that makes the victory all the more sweeter.
This needs to be a night where everyone can find their own way to join in with celebrations, where they can find their own way to be happy and finally take that deep breath we’ve all been holding in since Christmas.
Will they melted away to surely they will which crumbled to dust when faced with the null and void brigade and COVID. But as soon as Project Restart was announced, it was almost a done deal.
Now we just have to celebrate, and make the most of it.
